Green Community
HPP cares about our planet.
We feel a responsibility to take care of it and to preserve its beauty, resources and strength for future generations. HPP is committed to conserving raw materials and reducing energy consumption. Every day, we work with our government, business partners, and community partners to extract value from waste in ways that protect and enhance the environment.
HPP is dedicated to promoting sustainability in the commercial industry and in the community. HPP strives to help the community by being a good “green partner”.We encourage preservation of our natural resources through our involvement in local focus groups, projects and events such as the 2010 Clean Air Forum.
Another way that HPP is dedicated to the environment is through its support of both the Armand Bayou Nature Center and the Environmental Institute of Houston. HPP provides financial support, as well as employee hours, to both organizations. We assist both organizations with donations of materials which are used for habitat preservation, construction of butterfly gardens and nature walks. Employees of HPP also serve on the Armand Bayou Board.
Additionally, in an effort to stay in touch with the community, HPP is an active participant in the Bay Area Citizens Advisory Panel (BAYCAP), The Pasadena Citizens Advisory Council (PCAC) and the Seabrook Citizen Advisory Panel (SEACAP). These panels consist of local citizens who live in close proximity to industrial companies. These groups meet monthly to provide a forum to discuss updates on safety and environmental issues and to listen to citizens’ concerns.
HPP Community News Updates
Mr. Matt Havers with Houston Products Processing, Inc. graciously donated, scheduled and personally oversaw delivery of two tons of recycled crushed concrete for garden pathways. This critical initial gift allowed us to leverage additional grants. Texas Parks and Wildlife donated $500 worth of Native Texas Butterfly plants and Urban Wildlife Biologist Diana Foss donated her experience in garden design by incorporating student illustrations. The final design is not only elegant, but functional to Outdoor Classroom utilization as well as future expansion.
